Bill Meltzer: Flyers Gameday: 3/15/19 @ TOR - bmeltzer
I’m still within the belief Talbot should have started. Flyers had a lay-off since Monday. Hart’s rusty. In my opinion, last night are the games Can Talbot as a veteran back up has to start. He’s also healthy and hasn’t been used. |

Why did the Flyers trade for Talbot if they aren't going to play him?
Why is Morin up with the Flyers if they aren't going to play him?

Morin will have to go thru waivers to be sent down and they will lose him for nothing. |

Last night was a stark reminder of just how far this team still has to improve to play with the big boys. (literally and figuratively) |

Rewatch Carter Hart's last several games. He doesn't look like the same goalie. He is constantly out of position and sliding out of control and out of the crease. |

They would have lossed last night regardless of who was in net. Inept offensively. Poor defense. And to think they have to play the Caps one more time. |

Why did the Flyers trade for Talbot if they aren't going to play him?
Probably because they didn't want to count on Elliott staying healthy and playing this well after a 3 month injury. |

Never fails. I remarked a few weeks back about Laughton's lack of offensive upside and he starts to go on a small tear. Good for him.
Same holes still exist. Hart will be okay once he gets more action and gets comfortable again. He is the future. One game after 3 weeks out doesn't change that.
I need to see Big Sam in the line-up but for who (whom?). I think if we lose tonight he will get a shot. I suspect he will be in line-up when we face Isles again. |

We really looking at Hart for last nights lose? Did he maybe over play the Wilson goal? Sure but he was also sliding to get there for Kuznetsov one timer. He just made a great play to hold the puck. 9 out of ten times the guy is shooting in that position.
I look at last night as one team is a cup contender and another one is still a step behind. But i didn't think anything from last night was really on Hart.
Also just so people stop saying " why do we keep Morin up with the team not to play him"....if they want to send him down he needs to go through waivers. He would almost certainly not clear. That is why.

And regardless of whether people think it's unrealistic at this point, they're trying to make the playoffs. They're not going to put a guy in that has played like 3 ahl games over the last year in the lineup for a run to try to make the playoffs. |

The Flyers team defense has sagged a bit lately. Hart hasn't looked like the same goalie we saw before his back-to-back getting pulled games. The Flyers also collapsed on a few occasions last night completely leaving Hart out to dry. They honestly didn't look like a playoff team last night. Send Hart down and play out the season with Elliot and Talbot. Actually play Morin and get the kid some games before the season ends so we can at least see what we burned a 1st round pick on. |

If you think they are going to pack it in and just start giving games to Talbot you are dead wrong. They are in a playoff push, Elliot has been good and Hart was the guy that got them back in it, that's why there has been no Talbot. Not that hard to understand. |

And as poopty as last night was, they are still 5 back. Columbus has Carolina tonight. Flyers need a win and need to get some help and are only 3 back.
I know people want to give up hope but until it's over I am hoping they find a way in.
I don't know about you guys but i want some playoff hockey |

Big Sam will not be in the lineup until they are mathematically eliminated. He wouldn’t even be on the roster if he was still waiver exempt. |
